Our Story

Prospector Center started as a simple idea: create a place where people interested in gold prospecting, gem collecting, and treasure hunting could find reliable, practical information written by people who actually spend time in the field.

We're Johnny and Laurie Walker, and we've been prospecting the streams and mountains of Colorado and Arizona for over two decades. What began as weekend trips with a gold pan has grown into a genuine passion for the hobby—and for sharing what we've learned along the way.

We believe in the simple joy of getting outdoors, connecting with history, and experiencing the thrill of discovery. Whether that's finding your first flake of gold, uncovering a beautiful piece of amazonite, or simply learning the stories of the miners who came before us—there's something special about this pursuit.
